Bidding

  1. To bid, the bidder must pay 10% Security Deposit of a lot’s starting bid into their Maynard Auctions’ account; if a bidder wishes to bid on multiple lots, they must pay 10% Security Deposit on each lot individually.
  2. Once a bid is made it cannot be cancelled.

  4. Timed Auction Format
All auctions conducted by Maynard Auctions are timed online auctions. Each auction listing will clearly display the scheduled closing date and time on the lot's details page. Bidding is open for a defined duration, and participants may place bids at any time during this period. The auction will automatically close at the stated end time unless extended by the 60 second Rule.
  5. 60 Second Rule
In all timed online auctions conducted by Maynard Auctions, the 60 Second Rule shall apply. This rule stipulates that if a bid is placed within the final 60 seconds of the auction’s scheduled closing time, the auction end time will automatically extend by an additional 60 seconds. This extension will continue with each subsequent bid placed within the final 60 seconds, ensuring all interested parties have a fair opportunity to place further bids. The auction will only close once a full 60-second period has passed without any new bids being submitted. This mechanism is designed to replicate the competitive nature of a live auction and to prevent last-second “sniping.”

Estimates provided by Maynard Auctions are deemed to be based on the fact that the gemstone may have been subject to any type of treatment in the past. Maynard Auctions shall not be responsible in the absence of mention thereof.
A certificate may be issued by a laboratory, providing with detailed information on the condition of the gemstone and any treatment applied thereto. The buyer must be aware that different laboratories have different approaches as to the degree or type of treatment for a particular gemstone.
If a certificate accompanies the lot, the buyer must be aware that it is merely a statement of the laboratory’s opinion and in no way can Maynard Auctions be held responsible for any mentions therein. Such certificates are deemed to be delivered with the lot for informative purposes only.

Reserves

  1. Many lots are offered subject to a reserve, which is the confidential minimum sale price. The reserve will never exceed the low estimate on any lot. Maynard Auctions may open the bidding on any lot below the reserve by placing a bid on behalf of the seller and may in their discretion continue to bid up to the reserve price. This can be achieved by bidding in response to other bidders or alternatively by placing consecutive bids.
  2. Sellers may place a reserve on any lot consigned (minimum reserve AED 2,000) prior to the auction, being the minimum hammer price at which that lot may be sold. Reserves must be reasonable, and we may decline to offer lots which in our opinion, a seller is requesting an unreasonably high reserve.
  3. A reserve once set cannot be changed except with our consent and confirmed by you in writing. Where a reserve has been placed only, we may bid on your behalf and only up to the reserve (if any) and you may in no circumstances bid as a seller personally on your own lot.
  4. Once an auction starts, a reserve can not be increased, however they can be decreased with writen notice by the seller.

Buybacks

  1. To enter into a Buyback Agreement with Maynard Auctions, a seller must be at least 18 years of age and the legal owner of the asset they want a Buyback Agreement on.
  2. Once you have entered into a Buyback Agreement, it cannot be changed. Once a seller has received cash for their asset from Maynard Auctions, they have sold their asset to Maynard Auctions and have an agreement to have the right to repurchase their asset back at an agreed higher value, within an agreed time period.
  3. The agreed sale price, repurchase price and time period in which an asset can be repurchased are agreed between Maynard Auctions and the seller before proceeding with any sale.
  4. A seller has the right to repurchase their asset at any time within the agreed time period and Maynard Auctions will make reasonable effort within working hours to assist in making arrangement for a seller to repurchase and collect their asset.
  5. During the period of a Buyback Agreement, Maynard Auctions is responsible for ensuring all assets listed on Buyback Agreements are handled/controlled with care and are kept in the same condition as they were at the time of purchase.

If any damages, loss, theft of any asset were to occur whilst Maynard Auctions has ownership of the asset within the Buyback Agreement time period, Maynard Auctions is responsible for informing the seller. Any damage, loss, or misuse may allow the seller to reduce the buyback price or refuse buyback as mutually agreed.

  6. If a seller does not take the option to repurchase their asset within the agreed time period, Maynard Auctions becomes the full and permanent owner and has the right to resale the asset.
  7. In most cases, only single assets can be on any one Buyback Agreement, however special cases may exist such as when multiple assets that make up a collection and have a joint value, may be on a Buyback Agreement.
